# Ports

Defines port numbers and protocols, along with the services and applications they allow or restrict.

Ports are one of the single largest risks to your attack surface. Every piece of computing technology on your attack
surface is exposed through a TCP or UDP port and is the beginning of a potentially complex series of steps to attack
your company. NetSPI discovers internet-facing ports by performing full TCP connect port scanning against all IP
addresses discovered on your attack surface.

## Filter Ports

Filters are the quickest way to find a port and open its details panel for more information about its impact on assets.

Pre-configured saved filters are available to help you find ports that are likely to be the most important to you:

- **Open Ports** - Refers to a TCP or UDP port number that is configured to accept packets.
- **Management Ports** - A management port is a dedicated network interface that allows administrators to remotely
access, manage, and monitor assets.
